CO₂ Footprinting Module – Roles & Permissions Guide

The CO2 Footprinting module offers a structured way to manage carbon-related data across an organization. Each user role: CO2 Module Manager, CO2 Entity Manager, and CO2 Entity Approver, has its own set of permissions and responsibilities. This clear distinction ensures efficient oversight, streamlined data collection, and robust review processes. In the table below, you’ll find an outline of what each role can do and how it fits within the broader CO2 Footprinting workflow.

CO2 Module Manager

The highest authority for the CO2 Footprinting module across all entities. This role can manage all entities, oversee all reports, control user assignments within the module, and has full access to module settings. CO2 Module Managers can start data collection, submit data, request approvals, manage emission factors, targets and measures, and oversee related requests. They do not automatically have access to other modules without separate roles.

CO2 Entity Manager

Oversees only the specific entities (and their children) assigned to them. They can manage user assignments for those entities, fill in data, submit it, request approvals, and reopen data collection. CO2 Entity Managers also manage entity-specific emission factors, targets, measures, and settings, but cannot modify entities or data outside of their assigned scope.

CO2 Entity Approver

Responsible for reviewing and approving the CO2 data of the specific entities (and their descendants) to which they are assigned. They can access and confirm submissions, reopen data collection for these entities, and handle related requests. However, they cannot manage user assignments or submit data themselves unless given additional roles. They also do not have access beyond their assigned entities.

The CO2 Module Manager can access and edit any emission factor file as well as add new ones.

The CO2 Entity Manager can view its own reporting structure but cannot make any changes.

Once assigned by the Module Manager, the CO2 Entity Manager can edit reports and add data for its own entity.
